ARE YOU A TEAM PLAYER? GRADE 7 LESSON 2 Time Required: 30-45 minutes Content Standards: AA.S.1 AA.S.7 Students will acquire attitudes, knowledge, and skills that contribute to effective learning in school and across the lifespan. Students will acquire the knowledge, attitudes and interpersonal skills to help them understand and respect self and others. Indicators: AA.A.7.1.03 Practice working independently and cooperatively with other students. AA.PSD.7.7.05 Demonstrate cooperative behavior in groups. GOAL: Students will learn to interact and work cooperatively in groups. Activity Statements: Students will begin the lesson by participating in a Faith Walk and discuss the experience. Students will then work in a guided group activity where they will explore and discuss components and benefits of working cooperatively in a group. Materials: Teacher Resource 1 – Faith Walk Blind folds (enough for ½ of students in class) Handout 1 – Teamwork Bristol board or poster board Plain or construction paper Markers or crayons Procedures: 1. Use Teacher Resource 1 – Faith Walk. The teacher may use volunteers or include the entire class. 2. After the Faith Walk activity, students are instructed to return to their seats. The teacher follows instructions on Handout 1 – Teamwork to continue the lesson. ARE YOU A TEAM PLAYER? GRADE 7 LESSON 2 Discussion: How did we work together to accomplish a common goal? What part of the activity was easy to do? What part of the activity was more difficult to do? What is easy about working together as a team? What is difficult about working together as a team? How does a group become a team? Do we work better with people we trust? What helps make working together easier? Why is it important to be able to work together? How can each person on a team make teamwork better?
