(More than $64,315,000 had already been raised by the end of the fiscal year.) Through the generosity of donors, three new business complex buildings were named last year in honor of college alumni and friends of the university: Gerlach Hall is named in recognition of the late John B. “Bernie” Gerlach Sr., one of the most committed volunteers in the history of the university. Mr. Gerlach served as the first chair of the Campaign Committee. The four-story building includes graduate programs offices, career services, a stock market laboratory, communications laboratory, classrooms, and student lounges. Pfahl Hall is named in memory of the late John K. Pfahl, PhD, distinguished educator and business consultant. Don Shackelford, John Shepard, and David Cheses led the fund-raising effort for this project. The four-story building houses executive education offices, student classrooms, break and study rooms, and a two-story dining room. Schoenbaum Hall is named in recognition of Alex and Betty Schoenbaum, both Ohio State graduates. Mr. Schoenbaum, who passed away last year, founded the Shoney’s Restaurant chain. Mrs. The Art of Leadership Executive Residence Fisher Hall Schoenbaum currently serves as a member of the university’s Foun- Gerlach Hall dation Board. The building includes undergraduate program offices, an honors lounge and seminar rooms, a 257-seat auditorium, and classrooms. During the campaign, the college has Pfahl Hall Resource Center established over 40 endowments to Schoenbaum Hall fund academic priorities, including the following: The Benua Foundation Undergraduate Scholarship Fund provides support to undergraduate students, with preference given to students of merit with financial need who are members of Beta Gamma Sigma. The W. Arthur Cullman MBA Fellowship provides support to MBA students, with a preference given to those with a marketing emphasis. This fellowship honors the late Fisher College marketing professor, W. Arthur Cullman, and was given by The Limited Inc. The Moritz Family MBA Scholarship Fund supports MBA students. Mike Moritz is a 1968 Fisher graduate and capital campaign committee member, and was one of the first 10 alumni to commit a leadership gift in support of the current campaign. The Russell D. Tipton Scholarship in Accounting provides support to undergraduate Fisher College accounting students with financial need. Russ Tipton, a 1936 graduate, spent his career with Deloitte & Touche, LLP. The college total endowment market value has risen from $27,689,296 (1991-92) to a current total of $65,383,610 (1996-97). As chair and vice chair of the Fisher College New Campus Committee, Emeriti Professors of Finance David W. Cole and Ronald L. Racster have spearheaded the Fisher College new building complex project from the planning stage through building construction and occupancy. The team has worked with planners, architects, engineers, and contractors in all stages of the project, including the initial feasibility study, conceptualization of building design and layout, selection of furnishings, and the college’s relocation plans. Their seven-year commitment and perseverance will culminate with Phase I summer 1998 occupancy. The Art of Leadership Campaign Committee MRS.
