Membership Meeting Minutes

January 26, 2012
1) Call to order: President to call meeting to order at 6:30pm.
2) Guest Speaker:
a) Hannah from IANS spoke about benefits of joining NSNA, and IANS convention
at BSU on March 24.
3) Approval of minutes: Secretary moved to approve minutes from last membership
meeting on December 1, 2011. Seconded by member, approved by President.
4) Officer reports:
a) Treasurer
i) Leftover t-shirts will be sold at the rest of the meetings this year, or by
contacting an officer, for $8 apiece.
ii) The mentor program has had a great start and huge turnout. Contact
Treasurer for any questions/concerns.
b) Secretary
i) The new point system was set into place. Members received 10 points for
attending the January meeting.
c) Vice President
i) BSUDM will be Feb. 18 from 1p-1a. Members who participate will receive 100
points. The member with the most fundraising will receive a prize.
ii) There will be a MDA Walk at Carmel High school on March 31. BSNA will be
forming a team to participate.
d) President
i) Valentine’s Day raffle tickets were sold for $1 during meeting. Tickets were
drawn at the end of the meeting. 1st prize was a $20 AMC movie gift card and
2nd prize was Dove box of chocolates.
5) Special committees reports:
a) The treasurer made an announcement and met with the Social Committee on
decorating the bulletin board outside CN315.
6) New business:
a) The membership voted on a NSNA delegate to send to the annual convention in
Pittsburgh, PA in April. Katie Reese was nominated and elected.
b) Charley, an expert on stress management from BMH, spoke about the effects of
stress on the body and how to manage stress in nursing school.
7) Next meeting:
a) Feb. 22 at 6:30pm
8) Adjournment: President adjourns meeting at 8:30 pm.
