Biographical Note / Historical Note / Administrative History
Dr. E. Bruce Geelhoed is Chair of the Department and Professor of History. He was also the director
for The Center for Middletown Studies from 1991to 2003. He is the author of Charles E. Wilson and
Controversy at the Pentagon, 1953 to 1957 (Wayne State University Press, 1979); and the co-author with
Millicent Anne Gates of The Dragon and the Snake: An American Account of the Turmoil in China,
1976-1977 (University of Pennsylvania Press, 1986). He is also the co-author with Anthony O. Edmonds
of two studies, Ball State University: An Interpretive History (Indiana University Press, 2001) and
Eisenhower, Macmillan, and Allied Unity, 1957-1961 (Palgrave Macmillan, 2003). In addition, he and
Dr. Edmonds are the co-editors of The Macmillan-Eisenhower Correspondence, 1957-1969 (Palgrave
Macmillan, 2005.).
Scope and Contents
In this collection are the faculty papers of Bruce Geelhoed from 1980 to 2002. His papers are divided
into four main sections, arranged alphabetically: Administrative Records (including Correspondence),
Financial Records, Research, and Student Papers. Included are his papers on many history projects
and his connections with Dutch universities. Also included are student papers and records of the
Muncie Minnetrista Center. As well as his papers, this collection contains a Bruce Geelhoed photograph
collection, UAP 4/1/30, which consists of eight Bracken Library personnel photographs. His slide
collection, UAS 4/1/30, includes 62 slides of BSU football. And also in this collection are his electronic
files in UAE 4/1/30. Located here are zip disks of his book research and manuscripts.
