Lauren Altman, a Drexel Music Industry Senior, will lead this workshop. She owns and operates D6 Merchandise, and created this workshop in order to repurpose unsold t-shirts into something more meaningful. Very much in the spirit of a traditional quilting bee, this event will allow people to come together through the tactile experience of cutting, stabilizing and arranging the cloth. Members of the Drexel and West Philadelphia communities will place their pieces next to each other to make a quilt to be donated to the shelter or charity of their choosing. Participants will meet at the Dornsife Center’s Ryan Hall at 10am for morning refreshments, and we will begin the workshop around 10:30am. No prior sewing experience needed. We will explore the privilege of aging and ways to do it well through a series of presentations by Drexel Students.
