ERHAVIT® LSU – Enzymatic Unhairing Auxiliary
Features

ERHAVIT LSU is an unhairing auxiliary in powder form which allows a
significant reduction of the sulfide offer to be achieved; it is active in the
pH range 7 – 13.
Handling:
®
ERHAVIT LSU is supplied as a low-dust formulation; however, we
recommend that a protective face mask be worn during weighing
operations.
Storage:
Can be stored for up to two years if kept in a cool and dry place. Moisture
and long-term storage temperatures over 30 °C may reduce the enzymatic
activity.

ERHAVIT LSU

Supports the unhairing effect of sulfide and optimizes unhairing.

Improves loosening of epidermis, scud and the removal of natural
pigment.
•
Promotes opening-up of the hide-structure.
•
Improves the smoothness of limed pelts.
•
Accelerates lime penetration and intensifies the softening effect.

ERHAVIT LSU is normally added undissolved.
The ideal pH to boost unhairing is around 10.
®
After a soak using PELLVIT LSS, the best unhairing effect is achieved
®
by applying ERHAVIT LSU in the unhairing bath, before increasing the
pH with either lime or sodium sulfide. Here a quantity of 0.3 – 0.7% is
advised; with a running time of 1 hour at a temperature of 25 – 28°C.
Alternatively it can be applied in the soaking float itself. In short soaking
the product might be applied in the beginning of the main soak as an

enzymatic companion to PELLVIT LSS. Depending on the desired
®
soaking effect, that can be compared with that of PELLVIT KAB/P, 0.3 –
0.5% is recommended. It must be noted though that the unhairing effect is
®
reduced the further away from the unhairing ERHAVIT LSU is applied.
Ideally it would be applied a max. of 3 hours before the end of the main
soak.
The product can be applied in a separate bath after the main soak and
before unhairing as well, draining it off after 3 hours. Here a quantity of 0.3
®
– 0.5% ERHAVIT LSU can be applied at 25 – 28°C.
®
On very greasy hides ERHAVIT LSU may be supported by the use of
®
BORRON DL.
