Animal Research
All projects for animal care and use on campus must meet federal laws.
Since Marist College does not currently have an Institutional Animal
Care and use Committee (IACUC) that meets with the federal
guidelines, proposals that include research on vertebrate animals cannot
be submitted to external sponsors by Marist College. In the U.S. Public
Health Service (PHS) policy on care and use of animals, the Animal
Welfare Act (as amended), and standards as required by the Guide and
the American Association for Accreditation of Laboratory Animal Care
(AAALAC), as well as state and local laws and college policies.
