Position Title: Graduate Assistant – International Student Advisor
Reports to: Dr. Nadia Korobova, Associate Director for International Students and Scholars
Terms of Employment:
 For the fall semester: 20 hours per week, beginning August 25, 2014 and ending December 19, 2014.
Does not include the week of Thanksgiving Break.
 For the spring semester: 20 hours per week, beginning January 12, 2015 and ending May 8, 2015. Does
not include the week of Spring Break.
 Must be available 4 hours/day Monday-Friday, preferably, between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m.; also must be
available occasional evenings and weekends.
Compensation:
 Full assistantship salary (as determined by the Graduate College; $4,800 per semester in 2014-2015
academic year).
 Graduate Assistants receive University holidays and do not work during Thanksgiving Break, Spring
Break, or the interims between semesters.

Position Description:
 Advise international students on cultural, immigration, and personal concerns; develop and implement
social, cultural, recreational, and informational programs; develop and implement new international
student orientation program
 Other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
 Must be a full-time, degree-seeking student in a UNI graduate program
 Must be enrolled in at least 9 graduate-level credit hours per semester
 Maintain a Plan GPA of at least 3.00. First semester graduate students must have an undergraduate
GPA of at least 3.00.
 Candidate must be a full-time degree-seeking student in a graduate program
 Maintain a cumulative GPA of at least 3.00
 Advising and/or counseling skills
 Ability to communicate effectively with a diverse group of students
 Social media skills including Facebook, Twitter, and others
 Demonstrated written and oral communication skills
 Design skills
 Editing skills
 Time management skills
 Strong computer skills: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher
 Demonstrated ability to learn and apply new technology
 Postsecondary Education: Student Affairs majors preferred
