Postion Title: Graduate Assistant for Research, Teaching or Service
Reports to: Lauren K. Nelson, Interim Department Head, to be assigned.
Terms of Employment:

For the fall semester: 10 hours per week, beginning August 22, 2016 and ending December 16,
2016. Does not include the week of Thanksgiving Break.
For the spring semester: 10 hours per week, beginning January 9, 2017 and ending May 5, 2017.
Does not include the week of Spring Break.

Compensation:




Graduate Assistantship salary is $2,500 per semester.
Graduate Assistants may qualify for in-state tuition and fees.
Graduate Assistants receive University holidays and do not work during Thanksgiving Break,
Spring Break, or the interims between semesters.

Area of Teaching

Attend class and assisting with presentations, tests and grading.
Maintain class records.
Present class materials in the absence of the professor.
Assist students with special needs.
Assist with multimedia presentations.
Facilitate class discussions.

Area of Departmental Assistant
1. Update and coordinate departmental web presence (e.g., Website, Facebook)

Prepare informational and recruiting materials.
Assist with college events.
Assist with photocopying and scanning for classroom use and record keeping.
Act as the department or clinic representative at the front desk.
Other Dept assisting activities as assigned by immediate supervisor or Department

Qualifications:




Must be a full-time, degree-seeking student in UNI’s speech-language pathology graduate
program
Must be enrolled in 9 graduate credits each semester of assistantship.
Maintain a cumulative GPA of at least 3.00. First semester graduate students must have an
undergraduate GPA of at least 3.00.
B.A. degree in Communication Sciences & Disorders
