One program. Two weeks. Three universities.
Program Summary:
The TEACH Precollege program is a two-week summer program that will take place over three universities. Camp Counselors will
participate in the program for the entirety of the program across all three campuses. The first week will take place at UW-Stout, then
at UW-River Falls for the weekend, and conclude the second week at UW-Eau Claire.
Position Summary:
As a TEACH Precollege Camp Counselor, you will be in charge of overseeing a group of up to twenty (20) high school students during
the two-week program. Camp Counselors will take part in a week-long training session (before the program starts), live on campus, eat
on campus, plan activities with the participants, provide for the safety of the participants, and serve as academic tutors (Math & English)
and mentors for the participants. Camp Counselors will work within a team of five (5) total Camp Counselors to oversee the planning
and implementation of the program. Strong leadership skills and the ability to work independently is a key element of this position, as
well as outstanding oral and written communication, collaboration, and consensus building skills.
Position Responsibilities:
Participate in Mandatory Training

Attend mandatory Camp Counselor Orientation (1–day) during the week of April 18 (to be scheduled once all Camp
Counselors are hired)

Attend mandatory, paid Camp Counselor training
o Monday, June 6, 2016 through Friday, June 10, 2016 (approximately 7-8 hours per day)
Co-Coordinate the TEACH Precollege Program

Assist with planning and implementing Precollege program activities as a team

Attend Camp Counselor training

And other related duties
Supervise TEACH Pre-College Program

Supervise up to twenty (20) high school student participants during the 2-week summer program

Live on campus during the program (Saturday, June 11-Saturday, June 25) – Housing provided

Work collaboratively with a team of camp counselors to supervise student activities for the program

Serve as a mentor/leader to a group of up to five (5) high school students in a “leadership team”

Serve as a role model for the TEACH Precollege participants

Ensure that participants are on time for scheduled classes and activities

Provide necessary basic first-aid for students, when necessary

And other related duties
Minimum Qualifications:
Currently enrolled student at UW-Stout, UW-Eau Claire, or UW-River Falls in good academic standing (2.0 or higher)
Preferably a declared Pre-Education or an Education major, but not required
Strong leadership skills & ability to work in a team
Strong communication skills
