Session 1: Mining/metal investment.
Mining investments are influenced by a number of factors such as markets outlook, tax
policies, etc. The objective of this session is to consider the long term investment
prospects for key minerals. It will also discuss factors that governments should consider
in evaluating the possible social, economic, environmental and political risks posed by
investing companies. Presentations will be followed by a question and discussion period.

Session 2: Benefits from mining/metal investments
The objective of this session is to consider the policies that can promote the broad range
of benefits that can accrue from mining/metal investments, including their measurement.
It includes corporate points of view as to the factors that influence a decision to invest in
downstream activities, e.g. smelting and semi fabricating. Each presentation will be
followed by a question and discussion period.
