Ms. Antkiewicz’s classroom Rules and Procedures • Dual Credit College Algebra • College Algebra • Advanced Algebra with Trigonometry Room 301 Classroom rules Come to class on time and prepared Follow directions the first time they are given Respect everyone using polite language and take care of the room’s property Procedures for entering class “Check point” at the door (Leader and Teacher) for the Class Readiness Gum, candy, grooming accessories (brush, make – up, and cell phones in the locker) Uniform in order and ID displayed Notebook and materials in your hand or ready to pick up from your assigned in class place Time to sharpen your pencils if necessary Place your benchmark prep assignments into the blue homework box Take your graded work from your class black shelf, and put in your folder With the Bell If Tardy, please follow the school regulation to enter the class late On time means: with the tardy bell seated and solving DO NOW displayed on the board in your Do Now section of your notes or on the provided Do Now worksheet. Do now will be credited just for students who follow the rules (start immediately and remain seated; ask for details) Conversation: voice level 0 (individual work) Help: Raise your hand; make eye contact with Ms. Antkiewicz, Please do not shout across the room; for any private grade matters; see the teacher individually in the morning or after school. Activity: Write neatly and use a ruler Collection: Pass the work through your academic leader to my desk. Start . writing the benchmark skill and steps for the lesson from the board Write the benchmark vocabulary from the designated area on the board Write your homework for the next day in your agenda and/or inside the homework part of your notes Movement: You must stay in your seat (any trash will be thrown out while leaving the room) Class Work Conversation: Talk in an appropriate voice level: Level 0 Silence (Do Now, lecture and any individual work) Level 1 Whisper (partner talk only) Level2 Soft conversation (quiet talk to share ideas) Level3 Presentation, explanation for the whole class discussion. Help: Ask another student near you, ask your academic leader, raise your hand, and make eye contact with Ms. Antkiewicz to get help. Activity: Stay on task and focused on your assignment / listening to the lecture. Dismissal Conversation: voice level 2 (soft conversation) Help: You can approach the teacher individually or set a time for an appointment after school Activity and Movement: The first bell is for the teacher. The students wait for the teacher’s signal to prepare for dismissal (collect materials, align the desks) Responsibility: Leader Cadet leaders dismiss the class with the second bell if the class is in order (the students at their seats ready to go and all of the materials are collected and the voice level is 0 Turn in the work for grading while leaving class in the designed box for collection. If you choose to brake the rule First warning: eye/hand sign to recall the broken rule Second warning:choose to isolate your body and mind for -reflection at the “reflection desk” and follow the class work; issued demerits - Step outside the door for 2 minutes for deep breathing issued demerits Third warning: contact home (in some cases parentteacher conference and signing the contract) Fourth offense: parent call for teacher-studentadministrator conference; documented offence and referral *no re-teach/re-take privilege after school. Reteach/Retake after school session for failed benchmarks not in order for disturbing learning in class students. Rewards Positive phone call /email home Written rewording evaluation to the commandant Level the marking period grade up if borderline Drop the lowest grade (once a marking period) on your request 3 more day pass for not completed assignment on time Full credit retake for the assessment Whole- Class Reward: One test of your choice to drop (full credit retake option) Optional additional methods of formative assessment How to earn Extra Credit?
