Teams will explore the above schools and then the team will develop a program, highlighted items will be what will be explored in depth. IV. Which models do we want to focus on? Minnetonka East, Edina Valley View, Chaska/Chanhassen and Lakeville Century were chosen to have programs that are performing at a high level. Questions asked, do we build three different scenarios with different period day, 6, 7, 8. Then add what has been an outstanding philosophy/system from the top performing schools and integrate it into a program. The next step is to invite people from the top performing schools and get their feedback on their programs and find out what works. A list of questions will be developed by Noel Mehus, Dave McKeag, Steve Troen and Mark Parr. Mary Thompson, Trevor Johnson and Dan Wilharber will work to develop a 6, 7, 8 period day schedule. V. Determine staff feedback system Ask staff to answer questions to the four top criteria’s in a structured question and answer form to help determine what a middle school program should be modeled after. VI. Next Steps October: Present to leadership teams and ask for feedback from them November: Present the draft recommendations during a three night presentation. Have a handout where those attending can write down their concerns. Next Meeting: September 22, 1:00 pm at Black Hawk Middle School.
