Course__________________________________________ Date____________________ Course Analysis Form Data Analysis Guiding Questions – These guiding questions should be used by individual teachers when they are analyzing their own results for their own students. 1. What do these data tell you about your students’ overall performance? We noticed that our kids did better on the Constructed Response and Procedural questions. They struggled with the multiple choice questions. We all agree the bar has been raised with the new textbook. The material is more difficult compared to the Integrated Series. We are pleased with the results of the test being pretty normally distributed. 2. What standards or essential learnings indicate high performance, mid range performance, low performance? Good – transformations, normal distribution, system and matrices, central tendencies (probably throwing out – not a essential learning) Average – Exponential growth (A = Pert), log conversions, division of polynomials, simplifying radicals Bad – exponential growth (y = abx), exponents rules, binomial experiments, factoring completely, composite functions, radical equations, inequality systems (probably throwing out – not a essential learning) 3. What do these data tell you about your students who are receiving special education services? We felt our special education students handled the course quite well. They are capable of taking this course. We had a couple just give up in the end, but very few. 4. What do these data tell you about your Hispanic students? Our Hispanic student results were better than we expected. We were very pleased with the results of their tests. We would like to see an increase in the number of Hispanic students taking the course. Less than 10% of our students were Hispanic. 5. What do these data tell you about potential instructional or curricular changes that might be needed? We definitely need to make changes to the final exam. It was bad for our first attempt and our first time through the curriculum, but changes will be made and we are confident that our final assessment scores will rise next semester. We also need to refine our essential learnings now that we have worked through the new curriculum. We would like to incorporate multiple choice in our chapter quizzes and tests.
