Algebra I – Sections 6.4 & 6.5
1. Write the coordinates for the x- and y-intercepts
and then graph the following equation.
7x – 2y = 14
Name ___________________________________
2. Write the coordinates for the x- and y-intercepts
and then graph the following equation.
-3x + 4y = -18
For questions 3 & 4, use different colored pencils for each line.
3. Graph the lines y = -5 and x = 3 on the same graph
4. Graph the lines x = 1 and y = -6 on the same graph.
5. Write 4x – 3y = -18 in Slope-Intercept form.
6. Write -2x – 5y = 20 in Slope-Intercept form.
7. Write the equation of the line with slope of 3 and point (4, 1) in
a) Point-Slope form
b) Change the equation from (a) to Slope-Intercept form
8. Write the equation of the line containing the points (-5, 7) and (-2, 1) in
a) Point-Slope form
b) Change the equation from (a) to Slope-Intercept form
c) Graph the slope-intercept form of the line.
9. Based on the graph, write the equation for the line for the line in point slope form.
10. You are sent to a bakery to buy some treats for a party. Cupcakes cost $1.25 each and cookies cost $0.75
each. You have $50 to spend. Let x be the number of cupcakes and y be the number of cookies. Write an
equation in standard form to relate the number of cupcakes and cookies you could buy for your party.
