Quick Start for Multimedia Classroom PC279
Steps for Computer Use Only
1. Turn on the main power switch (I for ON & O for OFF) on the top of the cabinet.
2. Unlock the cabinet door to get the NEC Remote Control and take out the keyboard and
the mouse.
3. Point the NEC remote control at the projector in the ceiling, and press and hold the
Power ON button for more than 2 seconds to turn on the projector.
4. Unlock the door in the left side and press the Power button on the computer to start the
computer.
5. Log on the computer with your username and password.
6. Start your presentation by opening a specific application (e.g., PowerPoint or Word).
7. To play a DVD disc, insert it into DVD/CD-ROM, and it will automatically play the
DVD. Or you can double-click “Intervideo WinDVD” icon on the desktop to start the
DVD player.
Steps for VCR Use Only
1. Turn on the main power switch (I for ON & O for OFF) on the top of the cabinet.
2. Unlock the cabinet door to get the NEC Remote Control.
3. Point the NEC remote control at the projector in the ceiling, and press and hold the
Power ON button for more than 2 seconds to turn on the projector.
4. Press the VIDEO button on the remote control of the projector to switch to VCR mode.
5. Insert the videotape into the VCR.
6. Press the Play button on the VCR.
To switch between VCR and the computer screen,


Press RGB button on the NEC remote control for the computer screen.
Press VIDEO button on the NEC remote control for VCR screen.
Troubleshooting:
Problem: After turning on the computer and the projector, you only see a blue screen
rather than a computer log-on screen.
Solution: Press RGB button on the remote control of the NEC projector. The reason is that
the previous user used VCR before turning off the projector.
Shut Down Procedures:
1. Shut down the computer.
2. Press the Power OFF button twice to turn off the projector.
3. Put the remote control, keyboard and mouse into the cabinet.
4. Turn off the main power switch on the top of the cabinet.
5. Lock both cabinet doors.

How to Use Your Laptop in Classroom PC279
1. Turn on the main power switch (I for ON & O for OFF) on the top of the cabinet.
2. Unlock the cabinet door to get the NEC Remote Control.
3. Point the NEC remote control at the projector in the ceiling, and press and hold the Power
ON button for more than 2 seconds to turn on the projector.
4. Connect one end of the signal cable for laptop on the top of the cabinet to your laptop.
5. Turn on your laptop.
6. Start your presentation by opening a specific application (e.g., PowerPoint or Word).
7. If you don’t see the computer screen, follow the direction below for troubleshooting.
Troubleshooting:
Problem: After turning on the laptop and the projector, you only see a blue screen rather
than a computer log-on screen.
Solution 1: Press RGB button on the remote control of the NEC projector. The reason is
that the previous user used VCR before turning off the projector.
Solution 2: On your laptop keyboard, hold Fn key and press F8 (for DELL laptops, it can be F5,
or F3 with different brands) one to three times until you see both screens. While pressing Fn+F8
keys, it toggles among three modes: 1) laptop screen only; 2) both laptop and LCD screens; and
3) LCD projector screen only.
