Patterson, MSA Professional Development Lead NC Department of Public Instruction Educator Effectiveness Division Session Overview Participants will analyze the element descriptors within standard 4 of the teacher evaluation rubric and walk away with specific examples of educator and student behaviors that provide evidentiary support of proficiency. Participants will evaluate levels of proficiency through video, interactive activities, and group discussion. Session Objectives • Participants will analyze the element descriptors within standard 4 of the teacher evaluation rubric. • Participants will mark descriptors and collect evidence through video observation. • Participants will create specific examples and artifacts of proficiency within each element of standard 4. Standard 4 Jigsaw • Work in groups of 4 – Assign each person in your group 2 elements as follows (a b; c d; e f; and g h). – Move to your expert group. Expert Group Tasks • Analyze each descriptor within your assigned elements. • Highlight key words and discuss evidences of proficiency. • Use sticky notes to write at least one evidence for each standard and document if it represents proficient, accomplished, or distinguished. Standard 4 Jigsaw continued • Return to your original group of 4. • Share what you discussed and noted in your expert groups. Observation Small Group Discussion • Discuss each element of standard 4. • Come to consensus on rubric markings. • One person from your group add your markings to each poster.
