Alexandria Smith What is your first memory of Ball State? My first memory of Ball State is from orientation on June 2nd and 3rd with my dad. I didn’t go on a tour of Ball State during my senior year so this was my first time being at Ball State. When we were on our way early in the morning, I didn’t know what to expect from BSU. Once we got there I was so amazed by how beautiful the campus is. We parked in the McKinley parking garage and signed in with everyone else at Woodworth. My best friend Sierra also went to the same orientation but we weren’t put in the same group which scared me. I was so lucky to be able to make a new friend, Mekenzie, in my orientation group. We first met with our group and played a name game to be able to learn everyone’s names. Then we went to Pruis and listened to about three hours of presentations and people welcoming us to Ball State. Everyone was so nice and inviting and I knew that I had picked the right school. I was able to meet up with Sierra and my dad to be able to eat lunch and talk about our day so far. Most of the day was listening to presentations about what was here at Ball State. We were allowed to stay the night at Ball State, but my dad and I went home and came back the next morning for the second day of orientation. The second day of orientation was similar to the first day but it was not as long and we didn’t have as many presentations. During the first day we were able to go see Benny and T.I.S. In T.I.S. I was so amazed by all of the clothing and souvenirs that I wanted to buy everything. I ended up getting a lanyard and two shirts. As soon as I came to orientation, I knew that I had chosen the right school. Ball State has the most amazing campus and people and I am loving every minute Alexandria Smith that I spend here. I can’t wait for more memories to come. I am so lucky to be able to call Ball State my home away from home.
