Assignment: Plague
In this assignment you will take on the role of a traveler from Europe who goes east to China or South
East Asia. You will need to do research about life in this time period and in specific locations of the time
to complete this assignment. You will include a citation source at the end of your assignment, so make
certain to cite your sources properly.
1. Create a brief description of who you are including:
 country of origin
 year(s) of your travel (must be sometime between 1320s – 1350s)
 Profession (Are you traveling to make money? If so, in what way? Are you going to set up a
Catholic mission? Try to make a trade agreement for your King or Queen? This is the reason
why you’re traveling.)
 Method of travel (how do you plan to get east?)
2. Describe at least two places that you will travel through using the maps below to guide your
selection
 1 in Europe
 1 in Asia
 Include the exact geographic location
 Include the sights, smells, tastes, and what you hear
3. Considering the time and location you have selected, describe your experience with the plague
(so if you take an early trip you probably wouldn’t experience the plague as anything but vague,
scary rumors until you approached your final destination, but a later trip would involve death at
home before you even left)
