1st, 3rd, 7th PERIODS GEOMETRY (Rm N205)
At the beginning of class please ask the students to take out their homework that was assigned on Thursday.
Have them trade papers with someone at their table to check their answers. These are the answers to their
homework. Read them aloud while they grade:
When they’re done grading them give them about 10 minutes to make corrections on any problems that they got
wrong. They may work together to correct their answers (they should not be doing these problems in pencil;
pen, marker, etc. only). When they are done correcting their answers please collect the homework assignment.
They have a test coming up this week, so please pass out the practice test. They can either be work on this or
they can work on the take-home quiz that I handed out to them last week. This practice test is NOT homework
because we will work on it in class again. Their homework tonight is the take home quiz that they should
already have. It is due on Tuesday (if any of the students tell you they don’t have one tell them they can get it
on Blackboard).
4th PERIOD ALGEBRA 1 (Rm N205):
After attendance this class will also need to take out their homework to grade it. There should be copies of the
answer key for the homework (enough for two people to share one copy) that they can use to grade. Please give
them about 15 minutes to grade their answers and make corrections on any problems that are incorrect. (Again,
they should not be using a pencil to do this. Any corrections need to be done in pen, marker, etc.)
When they are done correcting their homework from the weekend, pass out copies of the classifying
polynomials table. Each student should get one copy of the table. (There are three tables per page, so they may
have to cut them in thirds and share. There are scissors on the table at the front of the classroom). Once they
each have a table, they can start working on tonight’s homework assignment:
Homework #23
Pg 497 #2-38 evens, 41, 44, 46
6th PERIOD REMEDIAL ALGEBRA 1 (Rm N110)
These students are in a remedial algebra class in which they are using an online math program called ALEKS to
gain credit recovery. They may use the entire class period to work on their ALEKS accounts. Have them log in
and work silently and individually.
The students are allowed to listen to music while they work, but you need to keep a close eye on them to make
sure they are not spending time on other internet sites. Please continually walk around to make sure that they are
on the ALEKS website for the entire time. If they’re logged on but not working, I’ll be able to track that on my
account and they won’t get credit for the day (you can remind them of that to make sure they keep working, if
you’d like).
If for some reason ALEKS is not working (this usually never happens), here’s an alternate assignment that
they’ll need to complete and turn in at the end of the class period. If they don’t have their textbook have them
share with each other or use the online textbook.
Alternate Assignment:
Pg 726 #9-20
Pg 728 #24-32
Thank you so much for subbing in my classes today!!! If you have any problems with any of the students, feel
free to send them to the office or call one of the deans for assistance. Please let me know of any problems you
have so I can take care of it appropriately when I return. 
