OR
Q.2 Design a four link mechanism when the motions of the input and
output links are governed by the function y=x2. X varies from 2 to
4 with an interval of 1.
15
Q.3 Write down the Kennedy’s Theorem.

SECTION-B
Q.5 The following data relate to a screw jack: Pitch of the threaded
screw = 8 mm. Diameter of threaded screw = 40 mm Coefficient of
friction between screw and nut = 0.1 Load= 20kW Assuming
that the load rotates with the screw, determine i) the ratio of
torques required to raise and lower the load ii) the efficiency of
the machine.

Q.6 Classify and explain with neat diagram of chain drives and write
advantages and disadvantages of chain drive.
15
OR
Q.6 An open belt drive 10 cm wide connects two pulleys mounted on
parallel shafts 2.5 m apart. The diameter of driving pulley is 45 cm
and that of the follower is 30 cm. If the permissible pull in the belt
is limited to 180 N per cm width of the belt, find the power that can
be transmitted when the driving pulley is rotating at 120 rpm.
Assume, confident of friction as 0.3 for belt and pulley surfaces.
