Integrated II – suggested Geometry Unit
Suggests that assignments be 10 – 16 maximum problems. (8 basic and other extension)
Day 1 – Square, rectangle, parallelogram, triangle, and trapezoid.
Introduce formulas for area and how they relate. Use figures for the worksheet.
Day 2 – Circle, semicircle, quartercircle. (central angles, additional sectors)
Day 3 – Perimeters and circumference.
Combine with the above figures and use written descriptions as well as figures.
Day 4 – Irregular shapes.
Find areas and perimeters. (using addition and subtraction of basic shapes)
Suggest use of Maths Mate as a resource.
Day 5 – Volume of Prisms and Cylinders.
Day 6 – Volumes of Pyramids and Cones.
Day 7 – Surface Area of Prisms, Cylinders, Pyramids, and Cones.
“Unfold the figure.” (present formulas for those who want a simplified method)
Day 8 – Volume and surface area of Spheres.
Day 9 – Scale factor, area ratio, and volume ratio.
Day 10 – Estimation and scale drawings.
