Reading Basic phonics Reading strategies Vocabulary development Comprehension strategies Short articles, stories, essays, and books Writing Vocabulary Spelling and grammar practice Sentence practice Paragraph practice Journals Autobiographical essay Speaking & Listening Structured conversation practice Oral presentations Careful listening exercises Real life experiential learning Technology: Students will be introduced to a variety of technology, including: computers, netbooks, powerpoint, smartboard activities, and more. Text books: We have newly adopted text books this year! The are Inside by Hampton Brown and National Geographic. Homework: Research show that the best and most efficient way for students to acquire a new language, become better readers and writers is to read often in the new language. In light of this, homework is for students to regularly check out books from the school and read a minimum of 20 minutes per day. Additional homework may be assigned and additional work may always be requested if the student wishes.
