Academic Advisors
Academic Advisors are specially trained faculty and staff members who work
with students throughout their academic careers to develop their educational
plans. USCA students are required to meet with their advisors prior to each
registration.

AFYS 1 0 1 - Fir st Ye ar Se m in ar
This course promotes a successful transition to college for new freshmen and
transfer students. AFYS 101 is taught in small class sections and provides
students with the opportunity to meet other new USCA students and a speciallyselected instructor. Through the introduction of college success strategies, AFYS
101 provides tools for developing learning styles, improving time management,
and developing career goals.
WHAT IS THE EARLY WARNING SYSTEM?
WHAT SHOULD STUDENTS DO IF THEY RECEIVE AN EARLY
WARNING NOTIFICATION?
Each semester, Advisement Services invites faculty and staff to participate
in the university’s Early Warning System. Upon submission of the
electronic Early Warning Form, students who are identified as not making
satisfactory progress in their classes are contacted.
Advisement Services contacts students via email and postal mailing of the
academic concerns identified by their professors. Additionally, we
recommend meeting with the professor who submitted the Early
Warning Form, participating in academic support services, and/or a
one‐on‐one consultation in the ASC to address the identified academic
concerns and improve their academic performance.
Early Warning Notifications should NOT be ignored. This is one of USCA’s
methods of notifying students about academic concerns and reaching out
to help them redirect their efforts towards academic success. We want
PACERS to succeed!
