Sodium Intake and Blood Pressure Experiment Question: Does sodium intake affect systolic blood pressure in men with Stage 1 hypertension? Data Collection: Twenty men with Stage 1 hypertension agree to participate in the study. Men are randomly assigned one of two diets: either a low sodium (50 mmol/day sodium) diet or a high sodium (200 mmol/day sodium) diet. The men are not told which diet is assigned to them. The men follow the diet for three months. At the end of three months their supine systolic blood pressure (mmHg) is taken.
