I, the undersigned, agree to release, indemnify, defend and hold harmless the Northern Iowa
Student Government, the State of Iowa, the Board of Regents, State of Iowa, the University of
Northern Iowa, and their agencies, officers, employees and agents from and against any and all
claims, damages, liens or other liabilities, including rights of subrogation, arising out of or
resulting from any injuries or damages to me, other people, and/or any property in connection
with renting this bicycle.
I further understand that accidents, serious bodily injuries (including death) and/or property
damage may occur during bicycle use or traveling. Knowing the risks involved, I agree to
assume these risks, and any and all responsibility for injury to the user of this equipment and/or
others while bicycling. I understand that bicycle protective gear (a helmet) is required, but it
does not eliminate the risk and may not reduce the risk of injury or even death in the event of
an accident. I agree to use the bicycle lock provided.
I agree to pay a $75.00 penalty fee if the bicycle is lost, stolen or damaged (beyond normal
wear and tear). I also agree to pay a $30.00 penalty fee if the bicycle lock and/or key is lost,
stolen or damaged (beyond normal wear and tear). If my rental bicycle is stolen, I will report it
immediately to UNI Police (319-273-2712), as well as the UNI Sustainability Office (319-2737207). If I require a repair during my rental term, I will contact the UNI Sustainability Office
(319-273-7207).
When I park the bicycle on the UNI campus, I agree to park the bicycle in an area or space
designated for bicycle parking. I attest that I will abide by the laws, rules and regulations of the
applicable state and local/municipal jurisdiction, including applicable vehicle laws, during the
rental term. I also agree to wear a bicycle helmet at all times when riding a bicycle during the
rental term and agree to have adequate medical insurance coverage for the duration of the
rental term.
Bicycle rental fees are $35.00 per semester or part of a semester. If the bicycle is not returned
undamaged by ___________________________, I agree to pay the $75.00 penalty fee. If the
bicycle lock and key are not returned undamaged by __________________________, I agree to
pay the $30.00 penalty fee.
I have read and understand this Bicycle Rental Agreement & Release, and certify my
voluntary agreement and compliance by my signature below.

I hereby accept the terms of this rental agreement and release.
This document constitutes the final and entire agreement relating
to the bicycle rental between the Northern Iowa Student
Government (NISG)/UNI Sustainability Office and the
undersigned. The NISG/UNI Sustainability Office provides no
warranties, express or implied, and this equipment is provided
and accepted “as is”.

damaged and the $30.00 penalty should the bicycle lock and/or
key be lost, stolen or damaged. If I do not pay the penalty fee
within 5 days, I understand that it will be charged to my Ubill.

I have carefully read this agreement and release of liability and
fully understand and agree to its contents. I am aware that this is
a release of liability and a contract between myself and the
NISG/UNI Sustainability Office, and I sign it of my own free will.
