Position Title: Editorial and Production Assistant Organization: Publication Studio Vancouver (PSV) is a publisher and a gallery. PSV prints and binds books on demand, creating original work with artists and writers. We are part of an international network of studios in other cities including Portland, Berkeley, Toronto, Los Angeles and Malmö. PSV is a laboratory for publication in its fullest sense—not just the production of books, but the production of a public. PSV presents exhibitions that blur boundaries between editorial and curatorial practices focusing on visual artwork that relates to an expanded notion of publication. We also present artist/writer talks, readings, lectures and book launches. Description: In this position the student will: - learn to print and bind books and assist in the development and completion of ongoing projects, this includes working with artists and editors, doing research, production, distribution and event planning - assist in the running of the space by making and selling books, sitting the gallery once a week (12-5pm), and helping at special events such as exhibition openings, talks and book launches - have the opportunity to develop, produce and distribute a publication project of their own choosing Qualifications: We are looking for 3rd or 4th year undergraduate or a graduate student with a keen interest in contemporary art practice and artists’ books.
