A REPORT ON INDUSTRIAL VISIT TO 220/132/33kV BARAMATI (M.I.D.C) TRANSMISSION SUBSTATION (On 7th & 8th Feb. 2013) S.E ELECTRICAL Department Of Electrical Engineering, Vidya Pratishthan’s College of Engineering, Baramati. The department of Electrical Engineering, Vidya Pratishthan’s College of Engineering organized a two day long educational visit to 220 /132 / 33 kV Transmission Substation on 7th and 8th of February, 2013 for S.E Electrical Engineering students. Visit was organized as per Pune university guidelines and recommendations regarding syllabus of Power System- I S.E Electrical Engineering. Visit was organized with the prior permission and guidance of Honorable Principal Prof. Dr. S.B.Deosarkar. It was supported by HOD Prof. C.R. Lakade. Class teacher of S.E Electrical Prof. A.M. Jadhav and Prof. R.S. Tarade along with one non-teaching staff members Mr. Rajaram Jadhav accompany & guide the students during visit. Total 78 students visited the transmission substation The details of visit are as follows:1. Total students are divided into 4 batches. Each batch consists of around 20 students. 2. On day one, batch A and batch B visited substation in morning and afternoon session respectively. 3. On day two, batch C and batch D visited substation in morning and afternoon session respectively. 4. During visit students gets an idea regarding working of substation, different substation equipments, control and protection equipments used in substation. Engineers at substation guide the students regarding working of transmission substation and gave the satisfactory answers to different questions raised by students. 5. Executive Engineer Mr. Manoj Pawar. He gave brief introduction about substation and it’s working. He also explains Single Line Diagram (SLD) of substation & also introduces other engineers and technical staff to student. After introduction, first A batch was again divided into two groups. First group visited Switch Yard along with Junior Engineer Mr. Dhananjay Wayal. On yard they saw various substation equipments. Working principal and application of each equipment was explained by Mr. Wayal. Students also raise various questions which were answered by Mr. Wayal. Second group visited Control Room and Battery Room along with Mr. Pawar. In control room, they saw various control panels, relays and also got an idea regarding control of substation. Mr. Pawar also explained application of computers and software’s for controlling substation. They also visited battery room which was heart of any substation. Details regarding maintenance of batteries were shared with students. Working principle and application of PLCC was also discussed. Same procedure was repeated for other batches also. The main points discussed during visit to transmission substation are: 1. Working of High Voltage Transmission Substation 2. Details of Various Substation equipments (Working principle and application) 3. Details of different Control Room Equipments used in substation 4. Various Protection Schemes and equipments used for Transmission substation 5. Application of Computers and software’s for better operation and control of substation On last day, at 5 pm a Felicitation program was organized by ELESA to thank the Substation In charge and Staff for their support and kind guidance. The Program was chaired by our HOD Prof. C.R. Lakade sir. In his speech, Prof. Lakade sir guided and encouraged students to work in energy sector for nation building. He also thanks substation staff for their valuable support and help. In a replay to felicitation, Mr. Pawar also invited us every year to visit their substation. He also invited students to their substation whenever they have any query or doubt. At last some students also shared their experiences during visit. The substation, we visited is one of Baramati’s major Transmission substation. The guiding staff both college staff as well as Substation staff was very supportive to all students. We hope that this visit will help us in our future practical life and bring a positive change in our thinking and practical behavior regarding Education and specially Engineering.
