Brief Report
IEEE Women in Engineering (WIE) is the largest international professional organization dedicated
to promoting women engineers and scientists. The mission of IEEE WIE is to facilitate the
recruitment and retention of women in technical disciplines globally. IEEE WIE envisions a
vibrant community of IEEE women and men collectively using their diverse talents to innovate
for the benefit of humanity.
IEEE WIE as an organization upholds the spirits of volunteering and community activities.
Women's lives have changed over the centuries. Historically, life was particularly difficult for most
women. In 1900, a woman's life span was about 50 years. Now, in the new millennium, average
life expectancy for women is 82 years of age, and it is continuing to rise. Not only are women
living longer, but they also can anticipate the possibility of enjoying a better quality of life
throughout their span of years. Moreover, women’s are nowadays working in every sector of
community and are actively commanding various professional bodies and government
organizations. On the occasion of International Women Day (8th March’16), IEEE WIE Affinity
Group in association with IEEE Student Branch organized a series of motivational talks on Women
Empowerment by Leading Women Professionals in society.
The program was successfully completed in the august presence of following speakers:

2. Dr. Aparna M. Kate, Eye Specialist, Krishna-Drishti Hospital, Baramati

Both the speakers shared their views towards Women Empowerment and Various Judicial Laws
& Practices in Indian Society for Women’s. Both the sessions enlightened the girl students and
lady faculty members of VPCOE on various fronts.
After these sessions, student members expressed their views on Women Empowerment with the
aid of animations and inspiring talks. Prizes were awarded to the best student presentations during
this program.
The program was successfully accomplished in the presence of Hon. Principal Prof. V. U.
Deshmukh, Prof. S. K. Shah (Branch Counselor), Prof. J.S. Rangole (Advisor, IEEE WIE Affinity
Group), Heads of various departments and lady faculty members along with around 100 girl
students from various departments.
