In Mrs. Phipps’ class, the students labeled the parts of pumpkins, practiced reading and writing consonant-vowel-consonant words, found items on a grocery list and created grocery lists in their play grocery store and matched different kinds of fabrics, and compared what different types of fabrics felt like when they were wet. The students also played a fun game that helped them identify numbers. A seed was hidden behind a pumpkin with a certain number on it. Mrs. Phipps Ashmore & Mark Twain then told the students what number the seed was behind and the students had to find that number. In Mrs. Oakley’s class, the students made candy corn fall trees and shirts for their Thanksgiving feast. The students also enjoyed learning to write sentences in their journals and taking books home to read. They practiced their sight words and learned about Native Americans.
