COMPLAINTS TO THE COMMISSION ON ACCREDITATION OF PHYSICAL
THERAPY EDUCATION (CAPTE)
The Commission on Accreditation in Physical Therapy Education (“CAPTE”) is an accrediting
agency that is nationally recognized by the US Department of Education (“USDE”) and the Council
for Higher Education Accreditation (“CHEA”). CAPTE grants specialized accreditation status to
qualified entry-level education programs for physical therapists and physical therapist assistants.
The only mechanism through which CAPTE can act on an individual’s concerns is through a formal
complaint process. For more information please visit the CAPTE Website
http://www.apta.org/CAPTE. The formal complaint process is outlined in the CAPTE
Accreditation Handbook: CAPTE Rules of Practice and Procedures: Part 11
(http://www.capteonline.org/uploadedFiles/CAPTEorg/About_CAPTE/Resources/Accreditation
_Handbook/RulesofPracticeandProcedure.pdf#search=%22complaints%22).
