ELIGIBILITY:
These scholarship awards are based on the student’s aptitude or an interest as indicated by grades and
recommendations. The applicant must have at least a 2.0 overall high-school average. Student must enroll in
coursework in the area of study for which they are applying. Additional requirements specific to the area of
study are listed in PART 2.
TO APPLY:
PART 1 of this application is demographic information and must be filled out completely. PART 2 contains the
requirements specific for the discipline or department to which you are applying. Completed recommendation
forms, filled in by your high school teacher and your counselor, must be attached. Please have your counselor
mail the recommendation forms and HIGH SCHOOL TRANSCRIPT addressed to the relevant department at:

Muskegon Community College DANCE PERFORMANCE-­‐BASED SCHOLARSHIP Criteria Guidelines 1. Scholarships shall be approved for a year at a time and shall be applied toward tuition with each grant limited to partial-­‐tuition credit. 2. To be eligible, each applicant must: a. Have a 2.0 cumulative grade point average (GPA) at the institution currently attending or last attended; b. Meet all applicable Muskegon Community College admission requirements; c. Complete an application form; d. Submit two (2) recommendations from a current or past school counselor and dance/drama/physical education instructor or supervisor; and e. Audition for sponsoring dance faculty member by: 1. Participation in an audition class to be held on the MCC campus each March, or 2. Participation in one session of a current MCC dance class, or 3. Having a performance personally critiqued by the sponsoring dance faculty member 3. Awards will be renewed and/or increased (up to but not to exceed a full tuition credit) if applicant: a. Successfully completes a minimum of two (2) credit hours per semester in the area of dance b. Maintains a 2.0 cumulative GPA and a 3.0 GPA in dance c. Auditions for and enrolls in Applied Theater-­‐Dance Performance/Overbrook Dance Theater d. Is recommended for renewal by the sponsoring dance faculty member 4. Acceptance of this award represents a commitment to the dance program at MCC and acknowledgment of the accompanying responsibility, particularly in giving priority to scheduled dance classes, rehearsals, performances and guest artist residency activities.
