We are pleased to publish our quarterly activities up to 31 December 2015 before you.
Our e-Newsletter mostly focuses on the events in which our faculty and students have shown their interest in the higher learning as well as research field.
Our College organized a National Level Conference on Mathematics Technology and Innovations in Maths Education during 4 to 7 December 2015. This was really a notable event as the Conference really proved a great success. Teachers and scholars in Mathematics from all the states in Maharashtra participated in this Conference. Most of our faculty members visited different IIT campuses for Summer Research Fellowships and Faculty
Development Programmes. Some of our faculty also underwent an Industrial Training during vacation period. Therefore, these kinds of events and active involvement in such programmes helps the faculty members to develop a value-added confidence and also motivates others to be part of such programmes. Providing exposure to the faculty and students is the key of quality development and progress and our College motivates the faculty for the same.

Our faculty keeps the students updated with new technology by organizing various workshops to be in pace with syllabus of the University. During this period most of our Engineering and Architecture faculty members organized Internship Preparation Visits and
Study Tours for the students to develop professional insights among themselves . Some of our faculty members arranged Workshops on Android which proved useful to show students the experiments which help them to face the challenges in the outside world.

Vidya Pratishthan’s College of Engineering organized a National Conference on Mathematics Education (in coordination with IIT Bombay) TIME 2015-Technology and Innovations in Maths Education . It was scheduled during 4 to 7 December 2015. 280 participants from all states of India participated in the Conference. The College organized Local Tours at Textile Park and Main Temples in
Baramati City. The Conference included the Sessions such as Panel Discussion, Lectures by Experts, Workshops and Paper Presentations. Dr. A P Hiwarekar worked as a Chairperson of Local
Organizing Committee of this Conference.

They conducted an Android Workshop on 18 and 19 December 2015 at Vidya Pratishthan’s College of
Engineering in Baramati. The main objective of this workshop was to make the students familiar with
Android Platform. Total 30 students of Third Year Computer Engineering and 4 faculty members from
Computer Engineering Department participated in this Workshop. This workshop was conducted in four sessions.

He attended a Three-Day International Conference on Functional Materials and
Microwaves during 28 to 30 December 2015 at Department of Physics in Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Marathwada University, Aurangabad. This Conference really proved so much beneficial to him to develop insights in teaching and learning process.

They attended IEEE WIE Symposium at Amrita School of Engineering and Technology in Bangalore on 7 and 8 November
2015. This symposium was organized by IEEE WIE Bangalore
Section of BUILD.EMPOWER.INSPIRE. The following were main delegates who delivered speeches during Inaugural Ceremony: Dr. Kamini Rao, Chairman and Medical Director, Milann–The Fertility Centre, Dr. Meena Chandawarkar, Vice-Chancellor, Karnataka State Women’s University, Vijayapur, Cutting Edge Technologies-Pamela Kumar, Vice President, Cloud Computing Innovation Council of India.

He participated in a QIP Short Term Course on Groundwater and Surface Water Management held in
IIT Mumbai between 7 to11 December 2015. This course introduced various issues related to groundwater and surface water management and modern techniques used for water management such as remote sensing, GIS, Hydro informatics, advanced numerical techniques, web based systems etc. The climate change impact is a major issue in water resources management. Another topic was on irrigation water management issues.

Prof. Snehal Deshmukh attended a Two-Day Workshop on Dams and Hydraulic Structures on 8 and 9 December 2015 in PCCOE, Pune under aegis of Savitribai Phule Pune University. The workshop was regarding the restructuring syllabus pattern of DHS subject of B.E. Civil Engineering.

They attended a One-Week STTP on Understanding Application of
Mathematics in Engineering Discipline during 23 and 28 November
2015 at Vishwakarma Institute of Information Technology at Kondhwa in Pune. Expert talks were delivered by eminent personalities including Aditya Abhyankar, Shishir Sahay, Srinivas Londhe,
Mukund Gokhale, Deodikar, Sule, Naik and Pavithran. On the
Fourth day, a study tour was organized at Central Water and Power Research Station (CWPRS),
Khadakwasala where information on use of mathematical models for designs of dams was given. This
Program proved really beneficial to them to develop insights in teaching and learning process.
Department of Civil Engineering organized a Guest Lecture on Engineering Geology by Dr. Sabale from Department of Archeology, Deccan College Post Graduate and Research Institute. It was arranged by Prof. Bhagyashri Sawant and Prof. D.G Patil. The lecture was attended by S.E and T.E civil students. Dr. Sabale provided an important insights to the students in Mineralogy, Petrology and general geology.

He coordinated an Internship Preparation Visit through IEEE Student Branch of Vidya Pratishthan’s
College of Engineering. Don Bosco Institute of Technology in Mumbai conducted an IEEE India Student
Internship Preparation Program for Engineering students on 10 October 2015. Prof. Yogesh Chitare and
Prof. Mrunmayi Katkar were the co-coordinators of this Internship Visit. Students were guided on different types of Internship and Entrepreneurship Preparation Opportunities in this Program. 43 students from all branches of the College actively participated in this Program and were given certificates.
This Visit really proved so much beneficial to all the students.

They underwent a 15-Day Industrial Training at Piaggio Vehicles Pvt. Ltd. during 1 to 15 December 2015. During this period they worked on the project Thermal Analysis of Paint Shop-1 which was assigned to them by their Mentor. Their mentor for this project was Mr. L.S. They completed One-Month Industrial Training at Bharat Forge Ltd. in Baramati. During the training the interactive sessions were arranged. Various experienced staff and authorities like Assistant Vice-
President and Sr. Manager provided exposure to the present trends and technologies used at BFL.
They visited all departments and shops of BFL and spent more time at the shop floor with the workers to enhance their knowledge.

They organized a Study Tour for Architecture students. It was arranged during 25 November to 5 December 2015. The basic aim of the Study Tour was to explore the work of eminent Ar. Laurie Baker in
Trivandrum. Students studied the techniques used by him in planning and construction. The Visit was planned to study contemporary as well as old heritage structures such as Shri. Padmanabhaswamy
Temple, CAT College and also to explore the Tourist or Cultural places like Munnar and Thekkady.

They organized a Study Tour for Third Year Architecture students at Ahmedabad. It was organized during 26 November to 4 December 2015. The main aim of the Study Tour was to introduce the students with variety of projects and Architectural Styles created by great Architects like Le Corbusier, Louis I. Kahn, Hashmukh Patel, B. V. Doshi, Bimal Patel and Karan Grover. This will surely broaden their vision towards the Architecture Career.

IIM, Ahmedabad and B. V Doshi’s House ‘Sangath’
School of Architecture organized a Study Tour for Fourth Year Architecture students. They visited Delhi, Jaipur and Agra. This Tour was arranged during 5 to 13 December 2015. The focused areas for this Visit were 1) Architectural styles 2) Urban design 3) World heritage and influential zones 4) Contemporary architecture precincts and 5) Urban Development initiative and its impact.

All India Knock-Out Cup 2015 on the basis of state event conducted by Maharashtra
Boxing Association and Amateur Ranking of the players. He represented Team Maharashtra as a captain for Tournament held at Vishakhapatnam during 17 to 20
December 2015 and played till quarter finals and ranked 4 th in the Tournament.
