POWER SCHOOL HIGHLIGHTS Target for Transition: 18 months Replace NC Wise with a more robust, user friendly and user driven tool Features that provide advantages for North Carolina: More local control regarding modules LEAs and charters use, includes parent and student portals Designed for ready access through mobile devices with specialized applications (apps) created with mobile devices in mind User friendly, extensive training provided with software Versatile tool for wide-ranging administrative tasks like attendance tracking and notification and sharing of grades and transcripts Current state funds used to operate NC WISE will be used to purchase and implement PowerSchool. There will be no change in how PowerSchool is funded. PowerSchool conversion is a separate project from our upcoming Instructional Improvement System (IIS), which is part of the State’s Race to the Top plan. IIS will provide broad modules that include: Standards, Curriculum and Instruction Assessment Professional Development and Educator Evaluation Data Analysis and Reporting Learner Profile and Work Samples Similarly, the state’s Shared Learning Infrastructure pilot (SLI) is a separate but linked project. Ultimate Goal: Fully integrated data and instructional system, including PowerSchool, IIS, and SLC, housed in the Cloud
