CO-OP & CAREER GUIDES ANTHROPOLOGY Anthropology is the study of human beings — the various cultures, traditions, and daily practices that define, separate, and unite us. Through detailed study and field experience, anthropologists strive to gain a thorough understanding of the world’s populations. Employers Who Have Hired Drexel Students Include: Drexel University International Visitors Council of Philadelphia Maternity Care Coalition The Triangle Penn Museum of Archeology and Anthropology Students majoring in anthropology broaden their understanding of the diversity of cultures and ways of life in the global environment through theoretical courses, content area courses, and specialized courses in field techniques and methodology. Many corporations, schools, and health care institutions are using ethnographic field techniques and qualitative methods in order to understand their markets, clientele, and their own organizational structure. Anthropology students are prepared for employment in these areas as well as for graduate work in anthropology, public policy, law, and other social and behavioral sciences. The Anthropology program has three goals: • • • To introduce students to the classic work in cultural anthropology and contextualize that work through a focus on technology, the information society and the processes of globalization To provide strong training in methodology To integrate fieldwork directly into the curriculum Students wanting specific information about the major are encouraged to stop by the department office in the PSA Building, call the department at 215.895.2455, or visit their website at drexel.edu/culturecomm/academics/undergraduate/anthropology.
