Des Moines Register 11-11-07 Dateline Iowa MES Catt Center to host caucus workshop The Iowa State University Catt Center for Women and Politics will host a caucus workshop from 4 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. Tuesday in the ISU Memorial Union's Sun Room. Representatives from both political parties will provide an overview of the Iowa caucus process. Both parties will then lead interactive training sessions for their caucuses. The workshop will end with a resource fair with representatives from most of the presidential campaigns. The event comes as a result of the change in caucus dates, as many students and others will be home over Christmas break instead of at their normal voting precinct. "When classes are in session, campus and campaign organizations are quite active in get-out-the-vote caucus efforts, and caucuses held on campus in 2004 were among the largest in Ames," said Dianne Bystrom, director of the Catt Center. "If the students will be in their home communities on January 3, we'll need to rely more on their parents to get them out."
