WHO-TV, IA 09-13-07 UNI Gets Money to Help Reduce Violent Crime September 13, 2007--Because of recent attacks in Iowa City, and on the University of Northern Iowa campus, UNI is getting nearly one-million dollars to help reduce violent crimes against women. The U.S. Department of Justice awarded the money to the university as part of a project that includes Iowa State University and the University of Iowa. The money will be used to create a campus violence-prevention task-force. Other changes include enhancing services for victims, implementing prevention and education programs, and strengthening security and investigation strategies.
