Officials: Cooking Fires Largest Source Of Campus Fires
Data Show 40 Fires Occurred On Campuses Since 2000
DES MOINES, Iowa -- Officials with the Iowa Department of Public Safety are
warning of a different threat to Iowa college students.
Since 2000, there have been 40 some fires in campus dorms, sorority and
fraternity houses. That includes a fire that damaged an Iowa State University
sorority.
Officials said cooking fires account for more than 70 percent of all campus fires.
