Enrollment up at IA, down a bit at ISU, UNI

Fall enrollment at the University of Iowa went up slightly compared to last year,
while there were small declines at Iowa State University and the University of
Northern Iowa, the universities reported today.
The U of I's two-week enrollment total is 29,979, which is 337 students, or 1
percent, more than 2005, the U of I reported. The number of new freshmen totals
4,289, up 440 from 2005. Total undergraduate enrollment stands at 20,738, up
438 students from 2005.
Overall student enrollment at Iowa State University is 25,462, about 100 more
students than officials had projected for fall 2006, but a decrease of
approximately 1 percent (279 students) compared to fall 2005. Of the 5,726 new
undergraduates at Iowa State this fall, there are: 3,983 freshmen, an increase of
5.7 percent (214 students) from fall 2005.
UNI officials report a slight increase in the number of new freshmen and a
decrease in the number of transfer students enrolled for the Fall 2006 semester.
Overall UNI enrollment was 12,260, down 2 percent from 12,513 in Fall 2005.
