Following the recommended course sequence is critical to your successful development in the BFA in Game Design & Development program. 2. In particular, the suggested progression of ART and DES courses is very important if you aim to complete this degree in four years. 3. The senior‐level capstone sequence, GDD 450 & 451, is a two semester, 8‐credit experience that must be taken entirely in one academic year (450 in Fall & 451 in Spring). 4. Students may satisfy the Experiential Learning requirement (DES 4XX) by participating in a Co‐op, Internship, Field Experience, International Study Abroad, or Other, as approved by Program Director. ADDITIONAL PROGRAM NOTES AND REQUIREMENTS A. It takes an average of 15 credits per semester to complete this degree in four (4) years. B. A Mid‐Program Portfolio Review is a requirement for graduation. C. A grade of “C” or better in both School of Art and Design courses (ART/DES/ARTH) and game design courses (GDD) is required for graduation D. A grade point average (GPA) of 2.5 or better in both School of Art and Design courses (ART/DES/ARTH) and game design courses (GDD), as well as a 2.0 overall GPA is required for graduation. TIPS ‘N’ TRICKS: Whenever possible, try to take a studio (ART or DES) during Winterm & Summer Terms. This will allow you to spread out your studio courses more evenly, which will avoid an overload of studios in any given semester (it is recommended that students do not take more than three studios in one semester). Many GE courses cover TWO requirements (re: Global Perspectives (GLP) and Racial & Ethnic Studies (RES‐A/B) Requirements). For instance: Consider taking LIT 208: Fiction into Film (fulfills both ARHU & RESB GE’s) and DES 150: Intro to Sustainable Design (fulfills both CISS & GLP GE’s) Consider a Minor! Two great ones for GDD are Computer Science (21 credits) and/or Business Administration (22 credits) ProgramWebsite:http://www.uwstout.edu/programs/bfagdd/
