Why Invest and Use Technology?

• Teachers can have better information to tailor instruction.

Shorter assessments that zero in on student performance faster (think: accurately determine where a child is on a progression of learning).

• Classrooms will be richer and more engaging environments.

Use of media in classroom experiences (think: first-hand historical accounts via video or online literary journals).

• Students can connect to the world.

Students will be able to engage in learning experiences with experts and learners who are not in their class…or even their country.

• Digital learning offers new opportunities for individualization.

Modular content can be provided based on need; progress can be easily monitored; small- and large-scale collaboration is easier (think: North

Carolina’s development of an Instructional Improvement System).
