Annual Employment Report Highlights Career Services at UW-Stout Career Services is a centralized office at UW-Stout which serves students from all majors on campus. One of the main services students use is individual appointments with professional career counselors. Also, Career Services manages a highly successful Co-op program as well as the planning and execution of two of the Midwest’s largest Career Conferences annually. In addition, Career Services provide online resources to assist students, including: December 2013, May 2014, August 2014 graduates †97.1 percent of the respondents reported they were employed or continuing their education. Knowledge rate of graduates was 86.8 percent. † Of those employed, 81.9 percent reported employment related to their major. † 3 percent reported they were “seeking employment.” † 7.8 percent reported they were continuing their education. †The median salary reported was $41,000. Average salaries are reported for each major. (Only base salaries are reported. Commissions, bonuses and incentives are not included in these figures.) One-on-one career counseling † CareerLink: Comprehensive career and job search database tool, helping to connect students to employers † CareerSpots: Robust online career video library † Interview Stream: Online mock interview tool Industry laboratory tour Additional Success Factors (During the 2013–2014 school year) † 1,530 students received one-on-one counselor appointments. † 1,568 on-campus interviews took place for professional and co-op positions. † 589 employers, more than 900 company representatives, and nearly 4,000 students participated in Spring and Fall Career Conferences. † 954 students participated in the Cooperative Education program giving them invaluable hands-on experience prior to graduation, averaging $13.69/hr. Survey Method The Career Services office at UW-Stout conducts an employment survey each year to determine the post-graduate status of Bachelor degree undergraduates. Multiple attempts are made prior to and after graduation to collect the information, including: providing a copy of the survey with each graduate’s diploma, conducting follow-up e-mails and phone calls, accessing social media and collaborating with faculty.
