He was awarded the Service Excellence award by the Mayoral committee for outstanding service to the City of Cape Town. Prior to transferring to the Fire and Rescue he was also seconded to the Provincial Government for 2 years as Assistant Director, Supply Chain Management, serving on the Provincial Bid Committee as a member, as well as being the National Government Committee Member on the National Government Tender Work Group where he was the author of Emergency Services specifications for Rescue, medical equipment and uniforms. He took up his current position at the Fire and Rescue Services in November of 2006.
