James A. D’Aloisio, P.E., SECB, LEED-AP
James A. (Jim) D’Aloisio is a practicing structural engineer with over 20 years’ experience in
building design, investigations, and analysis. He is a Principal and Secretary-Treasurer with
Klepper, Hahn and Hyatt, a 39-person structural engineering, landscape architecture, and
building science firm located in East Syracuse, NY. A 1982 graduate of Rensselaer Polytechnic
Institute, Mr. D’Aloisio is a Registered Professional Engineer, Certified by the Structural
Engineering Certification Board (SECB), a LEED Accredited Professional (LEED-AP), and a
USGBC-trained Dynamic Governance facilitator.
Jim was recently elected to the National Board of Directors of the U.S. Green Building Council,
as a member of the Upper Northeast Regional Council. Active in the New York Upstate Chapter
of the USGBC since its inception, he is currently on the Chapter’s Advisory Board and the
Program Committee. Jim is also a member of the Sustainability Committee of ASCE’s Structural
Engineering Institute. He has presented on sustainability topics dozens of times to building
design professionals and to a variety of other groups.
Jim’s professional passion is advancing sustainable structural concepts, such as the use of SIPs,
ICFs, frost-protected shallow foundations, material use efficiency, reduction of Portland cement,
and the coordination of building structures with insulation and air barrier systems in building
envelopes. He has been involved in several LEED Registered and LEED Certified projects. For
Christmas he got an infrared thermal imaging camera, and looks forward to playing with it all
winter.
