ENG 3U1
OTHELLO QUOTATION ANALYSIS
Part 1: Group Analysis of One Quotation
Each group will be assigned one of the quotations provided at the end of the assignment. You
will have one class period to complete the following:
A) As a group, brainstorm for as many points of significance as possible.
B) On an overhead, state the context of the quotation, and in POINT FORM state at least
TWO points of significance.
C) Prepare to present your analysis to the class next period.
Part 2: Individual Annotation of All Quotations
Instead of choosing one quotation and writing a formal analysis, you will be preparing point
form notes on each of the quotations (as you did for your 1984 journals). You should be able to
develop your notes during the group presentations, after which you’ll have time to go over the
quotations and notes and fine-tune them to submit the following day.
For each quotation, you must have TWO points of significance. Be careful to avoid merely
summarizing or paraphrasing the quotation.
