Interpretation
Our life is a fantastic journey, it is a voyage in which always expect the unexpected, see
that is not even thinkable, feel even when you are numb and enjoy even the shoddiest situation.
Our life is a journey; a journey in to the unknown. I believe a person as an individual is always
highly unpredictable not only that but, the truth is no one in this world is predictable and to save
a whole career in psychology and psychiatric field it has been said and somehow proven that
when a person is writing storyline for a videogame, based on given cue, he is unconsciously
writing about his own life and experiences. Personally this is a thought in which I have no
confidence. But, it is believed by numerous psychiatrists and psychologists around the world, so
I am not an authority to challenge this idea. But, rather flow with it. This paper will describe my
virtual journey through an unknown place and I will try to relate myself to this excursion and
encounter with the unknown.
“When I was teleported to an unknown place, it was really hot and humid, covered with
moss and algae. I was surrounded by huge trees. Everything was so beautiful”. This may be
interpreted as I am a person who loves nature and being surrounded by the things small and
large. Some may think heat and humidity as a harsh terrain and so do I. My belief in life is
when you want something, it doesn’t come easily. There is always success only after you have
worked really hard for it. The place seems to be totally unknown means that I may have arrived
at a place in my life that I have no idea what am I supposed to do next. But, I am still seeing
things around me as being very beautiful and it surely suggests my positive nature.
“When I am waiting, my contact person arrives there. He has brought my backpack and
explains about what to expect during my upcoming journey. After a while of chatting it was
time for me to leave; my contact is to leave five hours after I begin my voyage.” This situation
explains a few things about me that I am a social person, who likes to be with others, who may
take advice from others about any ordeal. But, when it comes to actually dealing with the
situation; I like to take my own decision. My contact person starting the same journey a while
after I do, means that I always like to have a backup plans for all the decisions take by me. My
contact person in the story can actually be a friend, mentor in whom I entirely trust, as I seem to
totally trust him.
“My backpack was a result of advancement in defense research, made from an unknown
material, very strong and extremely light. It was giving out some kind of cooling effect, felt like
it was made of an endothermic material. I felt so comfortable wearing it. Absolutely all weight
was scientifically transferred to my bones; making me feel like no weight was on my back. I had
my communications array, my camping equipments, enough food and water to last a whole
week.” The fact that I am carrying an advance piece of equipment says that I am usually well
prepared in my life to deal with any situation. I try to be with friends and family members who
provide warmth to me and help me reduce my burden. Because of them I am able to face any
problems without even worrying about it.
“About three hours in to my journey, I saw it. A large slimy green rock, it was really
huge and seemed really heavy. I was worried, because it was blocking my path. I looked
around, my only option was to climb a 100 feet cliff or somehow magically remove this rock
blocking my path. I thought I’ll just go and try to climb over the rock, as that looked easier.
Soon as I touched the rock it just vanished. I was surprised about what just happened.” The rock
represents the challenges and obstacles in life. The rock in my story is really huge and slimy.
This may represent some nasty obstacles. Currently as I am getting close to my graduation and
still have not found my dream job may be presented by this. This is the biggest problem that I
am facing. But I believe that problems and obstacles are a part of life and should be faced with
courage and without worries. Sometimes when you are much worried about a problem; stop,
think and take a look at it from a different point of view and the problem may not seem that hard
this time. This is presented by the fact that I tried to climb up the rock instead of giving up and
the rock disappeared.
“I heard a noise; it was the scariest noise- a scream- I have ever heard. I stopped and
looked around. I heard it again and this time it was closer than before. I panicked and started
running away from the ‘scream’. But suddenly a monstrous creature jumped in front of me. It
was huge, black and the scariest thing I have ever seen. It looked at me through its piercing
yellow eyes and gave out once more a loud cry and then to my surprise; it spitted out an object of
some kind in front of me and jumped away. I was surprised and didn’t know what to do? I just
picked up the object. It looked some kind of a special key. Somehow I felt that I am supposed to
keep it with me and know that it will be very useful someday.” Interpretation of the animal is
supposed to be ‘what I think how my friends sees me’. Does this mean that I think my friends
see me as a monster? Or may be a friendly monster? It presents that I am usually very helpful
towards others, no matter how people think and feel about me. The key represents knowledge.
In this case the key was special and complicated; meaning it was a complicated knowledge. I
picked up the key without even thinking, may mean that I am a knowledge seeker. Sometimes
you come across something and you end up remembering and gaining the knowledge. At this
time you don’t understand it or don’t know what it is. But, one fine day you come across a
situation and at that moment you will realize that the knowledge you gained long time ago will
be very helpful. This is what I actually believe and there is no such thing as useless knowledge.
Anything that you learn during your fantastic journey through life, you will end up using it one
way or the other.
“I walked further and heard something, may be flowing water? So I walked towards it to
investigate. It was a beautiful river; clean water, calmly flowing water and lots of fish”.
Interpreting the river would be most interesting. But, it is also something that I would never with
to interpret. Trying to understand that would surely bring more confusion
“I started walking further and saw something very unusual for that place. Something
about that made it irresistible for me to avoid it. Upon getting closer, I noticed it was a container
made out of some metal, a bit rusty and extremely attractive piece of antique. I picked it up and
soon realized there was something inside it. My curiosity made me open the box and suddenly
three bright objects flew out of it and into three different directions. Soon as they went behind
the horizon, I once again heard a really loud cry. This time it was a lot scarier and something
about that scared me so much that I left the container there and decided to get back on my
expedition”. The container represents material side of a person. In this situation the container
was old, rusty and looked like an antique. This may present me as being a collector. I am a
gatherer and like to collect things that are not easily available. When I heard the loud noise and
left the container to get back on my way. This means money is not a very important thing in my
life. To live and reach my goals is very important. The shiny things may present that money can
buy you what you need but, it may also bring uneasiness and lack of satisfaction in life.
“Further I went and saw a small garden in an opening in through the woods. It looked
well maintained and well taken care of. But, at the center of that garden was an old rundown
house. I was sure that no one could have lived in that house. When I reached close to the house,
there was an open window and I looked inside. There was something on the shelf; a dusty, old
and cracked vase. Somehow it stood out from the rest of the furniture in the house. I went
further and saw a winding staircase winding upwards and I started climbing it. When I reached
on top of the staircase, there was something out of this world. I saw an open portal and looked
like it goes into nothingness. There was no way it was made by any humans. As a member of
World Scientific Research Group, I would have known if something like this existed. I was
supposed to enter that portal. But, before I entered, from the corner of my eye I saw beyond the
perimeter of the garden and even beyond the trees; there was a huge triangular metallic
construction and there was smoke coming out of it. That was the last thing I saw before I entered
the portal”. This paragraph contains many key points that can be interpreted and affiliated to my
past, present, future and also to the way I think. But, as I have said before trying to understand
and interpret everything would be very much against my nature. Garden presents childhood and
a maintained garden means that I had a great and well groomed childhood. The vase presents
loved ones and friends that I have lost. Somehow thinking about comparing an old vase to the
ones that I have loved and lost, makes me sick. So “psychiatrists’ I’m at war against you for this.
The stairs represents spirituality. The stairs goes up means that as I mature my spirituality goes
on a higher plain and the metal building with smoke coming out means that I do believe in after
life. But, it is something that I am also scared about. I know that there is something after out
time is done in this world and we have to move over. But, do not know how it will be. The
building is a definite shape; especially triangular is my favorite shape. So the building is scary
looking but, it is triangular means the uncertainty about the afterlife.
The whole journey in this plot of a video game is somehow attached to my life. A few
parts may be. But, my interpretation about the whole thing is that, it has created more confusion
and dislike towards those people who sit in a chair with a pen, paper and ask you to look at the
weirdest possible shapes and form an opinion about you.
