Topic: Au Café and Regional Cuisine
Day:
3
Materials needed:
1. Computers with internet access
2. Headphones for each student OR speakers for the classroom
3. Google Earth installed on each computer
Objectives (Students will):
1. Review vocabulary (dishes and main ingredients) from Day 2
2. Learn how to read a menu in a French restaurant
3. Use Google Earth to discover different areas of France
4. Learn five new words (dealing with food) using authentic input
Resources:
1. Online review quiz
2. Podcast on learning to read a menu
3. Google Earth and website exploration assignment
Activities:
1. Online review quiz: 10-15 minutes
2. Café France Podcast 2: 8 minutes
3. Students to explore one of the seven régions of this unit and to explore an
authentic menu from a restaurant in one of these regions. Look at restaurant’s menu
online and explore the city where the restaurant is found using Google Earth. While
looking at the menu in groups, students will record observations and look up 5 new
words to present in a PowerPoint presentation (to be given on DAY 5) with images
of each word: 20+ minutes
