The program begins with an intensive ten week summer session followed by course work in
residence or online. This program only offers a general business concentration, though you may

Why the DVM/MBA Program?
The DVM/MBA Program is designed for LMU-CVM
students who desire a thorough understanding
of business principles useful to a veterinarian
participating in the business of medicine. The
program will equip students with a broad foundation
in management, marketing, finance, economics and
accounting. The LMU MBA program focuses on the
application of knowledge to real business situations,
while always stressing the role of leadership and
management in an ever-changing business climate.
This joint program can be completed in four years
and is a co-terminal degree program. It requires the
student to attend classes four times a week during
one two-term summer session. Six hours from the
LMU-CVM curriculum are accepted for dual credit
in the program. Three of the four remaining online
classes are electives, allowing the student to select
topics of interest.
The dual degree MBA program is designed to
allow the student to develop a firm understanding
of the relationships between business, marketing,
economics and the practice of veterinary medicine.
This program is taught in a student-centered,
collegial interactive atmosphere.

Providing veterinary medicine
students with a thorough
understanding of business
principles useful to a veterinarian.
How to Apply
The DVM/MBA Program
Applicants must already be accepted to LMUCVM and either be set to begin their first year
of medical studies or have just completed their
first year of medical studies.
The DVM/MBA program is a cooperative venture
between the College of Veterinary Medicine and the
School of Business at Lincoln Memorial University.
The co-terminal dual degree MBA program allows
the highly motivated and academically qualified
medical student to pursue the DVM and MBA
degrees simultaneously. Both programs can be
completed in four academic years, in less time than
would ordinarily be required if the degrees were
pursued consecutively.
The program is
designed to provide
students with a
thorough understanding
of business principles
that are useful to
a veterinarian who
participates in the
business aspects
of medical practice,
regardless of the
setting. The program
blends medical and
business training to
provide a basis for the ability to capably manage
and coordinate medical practices and other
business endeavors in a highly competitive, heavily
regulated and constantly changing environment.
Thirty-six semester hours of coursework/credit are
required to complete the dual degree MBA program;
six semester hours of dual credit is accepted from
the DVM degree curriculum that applies to MBA
requirements.
The program is an accelerated, rigorous academic
undertaking. Prospective students should plan their
schedules accordingly and prepare for a significant
allocation of time to the program. Coursework will
emphasize the use of case studies and will involve
quantitative and qualitative analysis.
Applicants who have not yet begun their
medical studies must have cumulative and
science GPAs of at least 3.00 on a 4.00 scale
Applicants who have successfully completed
