ASSIGNMENT: Notebook Entry 2: Teamwork Rocks! DUE DATE: As indicated by instructor TYPE & LOCATION DUE: Engineering Notebook EFFORT: Individual & Teams POINTS: 10 CATEGORY: Notebook DESCRIPTION: Teamwork is a critical part of the engineering process. Engineers use the collaborative process to solve sometimes extremely complex problems. By combining skills, points of view, and varied approaches, the team can frequently be more successful than the individual. Teamwork can at times be a challenge. Team members have busy lives, varying degrees of individual commitment to the team and project, multiple distractions, goals, and personal approaches. A key to any successful team is to work out issues at the team formation, and to develop a clear and analytical process to deal with issues arising during the project. This exercise requires teams to explore the attributes of a successful team as described in section 11.4 of the text. Each team member will first explore their contributions to the five team member attributes detailed on page 315. Then the team as a whole will develop a consolidated ‘Team Attribute List’ combining the individual attributes. The team will also develop a plan to deal with any issues. Finally, the team will list any questions or concerns they may have. DELIVERABLE: 1. An individual notebook entry with individual thoughts on contributions to the five team member attributes. 2. A team-completed ‘Team Attribute List’, conflict resolution plan, and list of concerns. Email the edited document to your instructor using professional email format.
