Effective 6/20/13 UNIVERSITY OF WISCONSIN STOUT UNIVERSITY RECREATION HEALTH & FITNESS CENTER POLICIES & PROCEDURES The following policies and procedures are established so that everyone, including you, can have a safe and pleasant workout experience. No member may use the Health & Fitness Center (HFC) or North Point Fitness Center until they have completely read and understood the facility policies and procedures form. Facility Access 1) A valid, UW-Stout ID should be presented to gain access to the facility. Your membership will be activated on your Stout ID within 24-48 hours after you buy your fitness membership. Online memberships must confirm their waiver by checking their email before the membership is activated. 2) You will NOT be permitted to use the facility without your ID. No ID, No Entry. 3) If you choose to use North Point Fitness Center EACH INDIVIDUAL MUST SWIPE THEIR CARD to enter, even if someone opens the door ahead of them. 4) Family membership cards will be issued to members with a family membership or sister institution membership. A valid photo ID should be presented along with your membership card to gain access. If this card is lost or stolen a $5 fee is required to replace the card. Attire and Shoe Wear 1) Proper workout attire (shorts, t-shirts, sweatpants, sweatshirts) should be worn. Jeans or pants with buttons, hardware (zippers/rivets), & straps are not allowed. 2) No bare feet, sandals, or open toed shoes are allowed on the floor. 3) Shirts must be worn at all times. Full length sports bras, in which the mid-drift is covered, are allowed for women. 4) We have a 2-shoe policy to help keep the facility clean. Those who do not bring a second pair of clean shoes will be asked to leave the facility or put on clean shoes. Equipment 1) There is no cardio sign up, but please be courteous of other members and limit yourself to 30 minutes during busy times. 2) Please wipe down the machines after using them; spray bottles and paper towels are located around the facility. Do not spray directly on the machine or consoles, spray into the paper towel. 3) Return weights, collars, bars, plates, magazines, etc. where you got them from. Violators may be asked to leave the facility. 4) Do not drop weights or lean them up against anything; use extreme caution in mirrored areas. Dropping weights is hazardous to yourself and those around you. 5) Equipment should be used “as is” and for its original purpose; benches may not be propped up on boxes or other surfaces. General 1) No tobacco, smokeless, or otherwise. 2) No profanity or other abusive language. 3) No gum/food/any beverage but water allowed. 4) No chalk is permitted. 5) No children under 18 years old. 6) We are not responsible for lost or stolen items. Lost and found items will be discarded if not claimed within two weeks. 7) Under no circumstances is any member allowed to train another member for compensation. If it is determined that paid personal training has been conducted on the premises, the trainer and trainee will each lose their membership. 8) We recommend a personal towel to wipe the upholstery after your use. 9) We recommend lifting with a partner or asking the floor or desk attendant to spot you if necessary. Effective 6/20/13 10) Cubbies are available for use for small items; if you lost the key to the cubby you will be charged $20 as those keys cannot be replaced, failure to pay will result in the loss of your membership. 11) Our memberships are NON-REFUNDABLE, NON-TRANSFERABLE, and may NOT BE FROZEN! Memberships are only valid when you are enrolled for class or are currently employed by UW-Stout. Fitness Services Personal Training: See website or ask a desk attendant for more information. Fitness Assessments: $10. Includes body fat measurements, posture assessment, muscle endurance, flexibility etc. Body Fat Testing (Bioelectrical impedance): Free for members; non-members: $3 Machine Orientations: Free for members Locker Rooms 1) Locker rooms are available for both faculty and students. 2) Students may check out a locker and lock for the semester or academic year at the Health & Fitness Center front desk. 3) For male faculty/staff, lockers can be reserved through Mike Bird x1423 (Room# 203). Female saculty/staff needs to contact Pat Radle x4078 (Room #106). Emergency 1) In case of an emergency, contact a fitness center employee immediately. The attendant will help contact the authorities when it is deemed necessary and provide emergency care if needed. 2) In case of fire or tornado alarm, the fitness staff will direct you to designated safety zones. *Any activity or exercise resulting in pain, faintness, dizziness, or shortness of breath should be stopped immediately. Any patrons not abiding by the policies and procedures of our facilities may be removed by a fitness center staff member.
